Conform the Dutch Higher Education and Research Act statutory provisions have been laid down in the Doctoral Degree Regulations of the Dutch Universities. Besides these provisions the Doctoral Regulations cover issues such as, admission to the doctoral programmes of the university involved, matters relating to preparation for the doctoral examination, the tasks and authorities of those involved in the doctoral programmes and so on.
