EPS Theme 1 Symposium “Developmental Biology of Plants”
Join the EPS Theme 1 symposium and learn more about the molecular and cellular mechanisms that drive plant development from the initial zygote to full maturity. Growth progresses from an embryonic stage within the seed to post-embryonic development, in which primary and secondary meristems continuously generate new cells that specialize as roots, stems, leaves, and flowers. Ultimately, this complex process of tissue and organ formation is regulated by a combination of inherited genetic information, internal chemical signals like growth regulators, and external environmental factors such as light, temperature, and nutrient availability.
