Day 1 – 21 April 2026 “ Comparative genomics & Phylogeny ”
Join the course module and learn about the evolutionary relationships between species and uncover the genetic basis of biological diversity.
- Principles of comparative genomics and genome evolution
- Methods to identify orthologs, paralogs, and gene families
- Tools and techniques for building phylogenetic trees
- Understanding genome conservation and divergence across species
Trainers: Michael Seidl (UU) & Eric Schranz (WUR)
Day 2 – 22 April 2026 “ Transcriptomics”
During the course module your get insight into the RNA landscape, helping you understand how genes are expressed, regulated, and interpreted in various biological contexts – from development to disease.
- Foundations of transcription and RNA biology
- High-throughput technologies: Microarrays & RNA-Seq
- RNA extraction, library preparation, and sequencing pipelines
- Data analysis: Mapping, quantification, and differential expression
- Introduction to single-cell transcriptomics and emerging trends
Trainers: Tijs Bliek (UvA) & Misha Paauw (UvA)
